On May 11, the Super Final of the “Alzhan” School Basketball League — one of Kazakhstan’s largest youth sports events — took place in Astana at Nazarbayev University, bringing together the country’s strongest school basketball teams.

SAM GROUP supported the event as an official partner, contributing to the development of school sports, the promotion of healthy lifestyles, and the creation of new opportunities for young athletes across Kazakhstan.

Teams from Aktobe, Khromtau, Pavlodar, Rudny, Lisakovsk, and Zhitikara participated in the final stage of the season. Throughout the year, the teams competed in regional qualifiers for the opportunity to represent their cities in the capital. The finals were held across boys’ and girls’ categories for grades 5–6, 7–8, and 9–11.

From early morning, the venue was filled with the atmosphere of a major sporting celebration: intense final matches, active fan support, entertainment programs, audience competitions, and professional live broadcasting. For participants and guests alike, the event became more than just a tournament — it was the culmination of an entire season, hundreds of games, and months of preparation.

Named after Olympic champion Alzhan Zharmukhamedov, the “Alzhan” School Basketball League has grown from 700 to more than 3,000 participants within just two seasons, becoming one of the country’s leading school sports initiatives.

SAM GROUP noted that supporting initiatives like this is an important part of the company’s social responsibility strategy. The company consistently supports projects focused on youth development, education, sports, and building a stronger future for Kazakhstan.
